Unlike other railway fastening systems, the W14 fastening system uses SKL spring clips, which are heat-treated to achieve a surface hardness in the range of 40-46HRC. Technical requirements are: The spring clips installed on the track must achieve a clamping force of 2 x 10KN = 20 KN, and the spring deflection of each track is 13mm. Fatigue test: 5 million cycles without breakage.
* The W shape of Skl 14 provides safety. To meet the required rail creep resistance, two highly elastic, independently acting spring arms hold the rail down steadily; the middle bend acts as an additional tilt protection. With its high fatigue strength, it resists dynamic vertical movements caused by vehicles rolling on the rail. The system is maintenance-free: Skl and screws will not loosen due to the permanently acting tension, and the middle bend prevents plastic deformation of the spring arms.
