If you’re looking for a fishplate that significantly improves rail joint performance, enhances line smoothness, and improves safety, our rail frozen joint fishplates are your best choice. These freezing joints utilize high-strength bolts to provide sufficient friction between the rail and the plate, ensuring a tight fit and preventing rail expansion and contraction.
Our fishplates are made of 55-grade steel or other superior steels. They are tightened with 12.9-grade high-strength hexagonal bolts to freeze the joint, enhancing the rail joint’s overall resistance and improving its smoothness.
Custom sizes and materials are available, free samples are provided, and quality is guaranteed. Inquiries are welcome!

High-speed, heavy-load railways or lines with high requirements for smoothness
Rail frozen joint fishplates are fasteners used to connect rails. Using high-strength bolts, they provide sufficient frictional resistance between the rail and the plate, ensuring a tight fit and preventing rail expansion and contraction. Its structure consists of reinforced full-section plywood, rails, high-strength bolts, adhesive, and bolted connections.
Gnee Rails manufactures frozen joints, glued insulated joints, subway-specific freeze joints, and glued insulated joints. We rigorously control quality from raw materials through to production and packaging, employing professional inspection processes. Each plywood is quality-tracked and numbered, ensuring guaranteed quality. Discounts are available for bulk orders!
Freeze joint plywood structure:
Cross-section: This refers to the cross-section of the plywood. Whether it is full-section is determined by whether it fits the rail. Full-section means it fits the rail, typically requiring adhesive bonding. Partial-section, also known as embedded, means there is a gap in the rail waist.
This structure utilizes reinforced full-section plywood, 12.9S-grade high-strength bolts, and a rigorous and effective bonding process. This improves the overall shear strength of both the glued insulated and non-insulated rail freeze joints, reduces deflection under train dynamic loads, and enhances the reliability and service life of the rail freeze joints.

Frozen Joint Bolt
We offer various models of frozen joint bolts. These bolts are suitable for:
Freezing rail joints in ordinary track sections;
Freezing joints before and after the frog in seamless turnouts;
Freezing rail joints with special structural requirements.
Technical Specifications
Bolt, Nut, and Washer Performance Grade and Materials:
Bolts should have a performance grade of 12.9 and be made of 35VB steel.
Nuts should have a performance grade of 10H and be made of 45# steel.
Washers should have a performance grade of 35HRC to 45HRC and be made of 35VB steel.
Standards and Quality Requirements for Frozen Joint Bolts
The rail is in good condition, without damage, spalling, lipping, or wave-shaped wear greater than 0.3mm, and the joint stagger does not exceed 0.3mm.
The friction frozen fishplate is without damage. When measured with a 1m straightedge, the working surface unevenness is not greater than 0.1mm, and the side bending sagitta is not greater than 0.5mm.
Use 12.9 grade M24 or M27 high-strength large hexagonal head bolts for connection, with the bolt torque reaching and maintaining 1000-1300 N.m.
Frozen joints generally adopt zero rail gap. For seamless turnouts before and after the frog, as well as at locations with special requirements, a rail gap not greater than 10mm may be reserved. When the rail gap is 5-10mm, rail profile shims should be added.
The four sleepers before and after the joint should be of the same type and laid with 14mm thickened rubber pads. Within 50m before and after the frozen joint, the fasteners should meet the requirements of “complete, correct, tight, lubricated, and secure.”
The ballast bed at the joint and within 50m before and after should be clean, full, and without caking or mud pumping.
The track geometry at the joint is good, without low joints, and the sleeper void is not greater than 2mm.
When the frozen joint section connects with the seamless line, the locking rail temperature complies with the design requirements.
Choose The Right Rail Fishplate
The following factors should be considered when choosing a suitable model for railway frozen joint fishplates:
Rail Type: First, determine the rail type used, such as P50, P60, or P75. Different rail types require corresponding cleat types.
Fishplate Specifications: Select a fishplate of appropriate specifications based on the rail gauge and rail type. The joint plate width and thickness should match the rail to ensure a secure and stable joint.
Load Capacity: Select a fishplate with sufficient load capacity based on the railway’s operating requirements and load conditions. Load capacity may vary between different joint types.
Fishplate Material: The cleat material also needs to be considered. Common materials include 55# steel, 40Cr, and 42CrMo. Different cleat materials may vary in strength, durability, and rust resistance.
Applicable Environment: Select a fishplate type suitable for the railway’s location and climatic conditions. For example, in humid or corrosive areas, a fishplate with improved rust resistance may be necessary.
When selecting a railway freezing joint cleat, it is recommended to refer to relevant railway technical specifications and standards, or consult with our sales or technical personnel to ensure that the selected cleat meets safety and operational requirements. In addition, regular inspection and maintenance of the cleat condition is also one of the important measures to ensure safe railway operation.
